Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Push notification token. When you enable notifications, your device generates a token (a random string created by Apple or Google) that lets us send alerts to your phone. We store this token.
• Your state. To send you alerts relevant to your area, we need to know which US state you are in. You provide this either by entering a ZIP code or by allowing location access. In both cases, we convert it to your state (for example, "Oklahoma") and store only the state. The ZIP code or location coordinates are discarded immediately after this conversion and are never stored on our servers.

That is the complete list. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location history, contacts, advertising identifiers, or anything else.

Advertising (free version only)

The free, ad-supported version of FuelPing™ displays ads served through a third-party advertising network. To show ads, that network may collect device and usage information, including advertising identifiers, device type, and general location derived from your IP address, and may use it to personalize ads. This data is collected by the ad network under its own privacy policy, not by us.

On iOS, you will be asked whether to allow tracking; you can decline, and you can change this anytime in your device settings. On both platforms you can limit ad personalization through your device's privacy settings.

The one-time $2.99 upgrade removes all ads and all ad-related data collection. On the upgraded version, no advertising network is loaded and none of the above data is collected. If you want the fully private experience, the paid version collects only your device push token and your state, as described above, and nothing else.

What we don't do

• We do not require an account.
• We do not collect email addresses.
• We do not sell or rent your personal information.
• Aside from the third-party advertising described above (free version only), we do not use analytics trackers, and we do not track your location in the background.
• On the ad-free $2.99 version, no advertising network is loaded at all.
• We cannot identify who you are from the information we hold.

How your information is used

Your push token and state are used for exactly one purpose: delivering gas price alerts for your area. Notifications are delivered through Apple's and Google's standard push notification services, which process the token as part of normal delivery.

Where information lives

Our servers are hosted in the United States by our infrastructure provider. Gas price and market data used to generate alerts comes from public sources (such as the U.S. Energy Information Administration); this data is about markets, not about you.

Data retention and deletion

Your token and state are kept while the app is installed with notifications enabled. If you uninstall the app or disable notifications, the token becomes invalid and is automatically removed from our systems. You can also change your state at any time in the app, which replaces the stored value.

Children

FuelPing™ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. The app contains no social features, accounts, or messaging.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and the effective date. Because we have no way to email you (by design), the current policy always lives at fuelpingapp.com/privacy.
