Privacy Policy

We store your device's push token and your state. We do not know who you are. We collect nothing else. Notifications are delivered via Apple's and Google's standard notification systems.
This policy covers the FuelPing mobile app and this website, operated by FuelPing LLC ("FuelPing," "we," "us"). It's short on purpose: the app doesn't collect much, so there isn't much to explain.
Information we collect
When you set up the app, we store exactly two things, tied to your device, not to you:
- A push notification token: an identifier Apple or Google assigns to your device so we can deliver a notification to it. It is not your phone number, email, or Apple/Google account ID.
- Your two-letter U.S. state: resolved once, either from the ZIP code you type in or from a one-time location lookup on your device. We store only the resulting state (e.g. "OK"); we do not store your ZIP code, GPS coordinates, or address. If you use your device's location to set this up, that lookup happens on your device and the precise location is never sent to our servers.
That's the complete list. Specifically, we do not collect or store:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials; there is no account.
- Precise GPS location, address, or ZIP code.
- Advertising identifiers, device fingerprints, or analytics/usage data.
- Payment information: purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play; we never see your card details.
- Contacts, photos, or any other data the app doesn't need to function.
How we use it
The push token and state exist for one purpose: sending you a notification when our prediction engine determines gas prices are about to rise in your state. We also use your state (never your token) to show you the current alert status and nearby station/charger data when you open the app. We do not use this information for advertising, analytics, or any purpose beyond running the app.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing.
- We don't run ads or ad-tracking SDKs of any kind.
- We don't use analytics software to track how you use the app.
- We don't build a profile of you, individually or otherwise; there's no identifier that ties back to a person, only an anonymous device token and a state.
Notifications
Notifications are delivered entirely through Apple's Push Notification service (APNs) and Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), the same standard systems every notification- sending app uses. You can revoke notification permission at any time in your device's Settings; doing so stops delivery but doesn't delete your stored state (uninstalling the app does, since the associated push token becomes invalid and is pruned).
Third-party services
Our backend calls a small number of public and commercial data sources to build each forecast: the U.S. Energy Information Administration's public API, an AI service we use to scan public news, and OpenStreetMap/NREL data for the station and charger locator. None of these calls include any information about you; they're general market and public location data lookups, not requests tied to your device or state.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your push token and state for as long as the app is installed and registered. Uninstalling the app is sufficient to stop notifications; the token becomes invalid and is periodically pruned from our systems. To request earlier deletion, email hello@fuelpingapp.com with your app's push token if you have it handy (Settings screen), or simply confirm you'd like your most recently registered token removed.
Children's privacy
FuelPing is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Since we don't collect names, emails, or other identifying information from anyone, there is no practical way for us to knowingly do so.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Given how little we store, a device token and a state, neither of which identifies you personally, there is little to access or correct beyond what's described above. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it in the app. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
